His Life:   Imām Ibn Rajab al-Ḥanbalī was born in 736 AH./1334 CE. in Baghdad, now in modern-day Iraq. He grew up in a family of religious knowledge. He followed the Salaf in his beliefs and methodology. He died in Ramadan, 795 AH./1393 CE. in Damascus.

His Studies:   He studied from some of the greatest scholars including Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah. He traveled to Damascus, Mecca, Jerusalem, and Egypt to study Islam, especially ḥadīth. He authored works in tafsīr, ḥadīth, fiqh, history, and raqāiq. Some of his more famous books are his explanation of Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī, his explanation of al-Tirmidhī's ḥadīth collection, and his own 50-ḥadīth collection, adding 10 of his own to Imām al-Nawawī's famous 40 collection.
